"Blind's Cane" was a success
It was with great joy that yesterday we finished the first period of presentation of “Blind’s Cane“, a show which action starts in the European Renaissance period of the 16th century and that focuses on the figure of Pedro Nunes, cosmographer-major of the Portuguese kingdom and teacher of Infantes D. Luís, D. Henrique, and D. Duarte.
On 18, 20 and 21 November, Teatro Académico de Gil Vicente opened its doors to us and will do so again on 20 and 21 December, so you will have another opportunity to attend the show. In between, if you prefer to go to Aveiro, the show will also be presented there, on 6 to 8 December, at Estaleiro Teatral.
The text reflects on the union of the past with the future and the union of theory with practice. But these unions, as the mathematician Pedro Nunes well attested, are not always peaceful… Throughout the action some chronological gaps appear, like temporal portals, allowing us to witness the first “auto de fé” performed in Portugal and the instant of D. Sebastião’s death.
