“Cálculo”, by Carl Djerassi book launch
Marionet presents the book “Calculus“, by Carl Djerassi, a play translated into Portuguese by Mário Montenegro.
On 15 November 2011, at 5 pm, the Science Museum of the University of Coimbra received Carl Djerassi — a renowned chemist for being one of the scientists who synthesized the first oral contraceptive steroid and, for that reason, often nicknamed “ father of the pill” — who gave the lecture “Science in theatre: from the page to the stage” where he presented his works such as Fallacy and Calculus.
After the lecture, the Portuguese version of “Calculus” was launched, published by the Coimbra University Press, with an autograph session with the author. Presented by Carlos Fiolhais, the session was attended by Carl Djerassi, Delfim Leão (UC Press Director), Mário Montenegro (translator).
On 17 November, at 9:30 pm, Marionet premiered the show Calculus, staged by Mário Montenegro, also at the Science Museum of the University of Coimbra.
