Last chance to see "Calculus"
Marionet’s latest production premiered on 17 November at the Science Museum of the University of Coimbra. Judging by the audience reactions that has been filling the room, “Cálculo” has delighted the spectators, including the author Carl Djerassi, who was present at the absolute premiere of “Cálculo” in Portugal.
Portuguese audiences had the chance to hear him talk about his work as a playwright at the lecture “Science in theatre: from the page to the stage”, which took place on 15 November at 5pm at the Science Museum of the University of Coimbra, followed at 6pm at the same venue by the launch of the Portuguese translation of the play by the University of Coimbra Press.
Carl Djerassi | Writer, playwright and emeritus professor of chemistry at Stanford University, is one of the few American scientists to have been awarded the National Medal of Science (for the first synthesis of an oral contraceptive steroid) and the National Medal of Technology. A member of the US National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Royal Society (London), the Leopoldina (Germany) and several other foreign academies, he has received 26 Honoris Causa doctorates (the most recent from the University of Porto) and has also been awarded numerous other honours.
