Right after the last presentation session of the show “Behind Happiness“, on 16 March 2025, at Cerca de São Bernardo Theatre, we hosted a conversation informally addressing the various themes that inspired this play and that found artistic expression in it.
This event will be moderated by Marionet’s Production Director, Francisca Moreira, who also accompanied the process of interviewing people who suffer from rheumatic diseases. The panel of guests will be the following: Fernanda Sousa (user of the Rheumatology Service of the ULS Coimbra), José António Pereira da Silva (Director of the Rheumatology Service of the ULS Coimbra), Lurdes Acúrcio (user of the Rheumatology Service of the ULS Coimbra), Maria José Pessoa (patient diagnosed with fibromyalgia), Mário Montenegro (Director and Artistic Director of Marionet).
The talk will be interpreted into Portuguese Sign Language.

This conversation, which will have interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language, takes place after the Sunday session of ‘Behind Happiness‘ and is open to everyone, whether or not they are attending the show. You only need to turn up at the CSBT box office until 5:30pm (limited to room capacity).
The process of creating ‘Behind Happiness’ was greatly enhanced by the input we received from people who suffer from rheumatic diseases or who work in its treatment. Their testimonies and accounts of personal experiences were decisive, not only in gaining a better understanding of this complex, stigmatised universe, but also in writing the play.
The post-show talk aimed to create another moment of highly relevant personal and scientific sharing, bearing in mind one of the main objectives of this Marionet show, which is to increase general knowledge about rheumatic diseases and other associated issues, through theatre and artistic creation.
