For the first time, Marionet welcomed the little ones to embark on a five-day experience of discovering the brain through theatre. The idea was to creatively explore this organ, through activities based on the connection of three elements – BODY/ACTION/BRAIN. Through scientific concepts, we developed competences, such as teamwork, imagination, dreams, self-confidence and we take everyday life and extrapolate it through dramatic experience. In short, we combined knowledge with imagination to realise that all wonderful things are born from brain stimuli, from our brain. Our most complex (and incredible) organ.
“Everything great that ever happened in this world happened first in somebody’s imagination.”
— Astrid Lindgren

10-14 July 2023
10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Age group: 8 – 12
Limited to 10 children
This Workshop emerged from the need to bring the disciplinary intersection Theatre/Science to the young public. Marionet stands out for its 22 years of ongoing work on the intersection between Performing Arts and Science. Along the way, there were several times that the work crossed with younger audiences and these moments made clear the importance of communicating science in a more practical, interactive and playful way.
The workshops take place when the children don’t have school activities. They lasted for five days, and were prepared by Marionet’s team, directed by Mário Montenegro and coordinated by Carolina Andrade, graduated in Theatre and Education.
