And that's how Read Theatre with Science ended
Don’t worry, it’s over, yes, but not until 2023, because in 2024 we’ll be back with more reading sessions!
Yesterday was the last Read Theatre with Science of the year, where we looked at Tommy Smith’s play “Pigeon“. This is the sixth time during the year that we’ve gathered in various venues in Coimbra around a work that has been translated by a fantastic team of volunteers.
In 2023, we started in January with “Boom”, by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, making its debut in the cosy space of Livraria Bruaá, located in the Convento São Francisco. We continued with two sessions at our headquarters in March and May, reading “Marjorie Prime” by Jordan Harrison and “Kafka’s Monkey” by Colin Teevan respectively. We then welcomed summer on a pleasant evening in Parque do Choupalinho, reading “On the Verge, or The Geography of Yearning” by Eric Overmyer, followed in September by “The Other Place” by Sharr White, read at Galeria Santa Clara, a space we had already visited in 2022.
All in all, this cycle, which began in May 2021, now totals 15 sessions of Read Theatre With Science, all of which were very well attended and stimulating. So here’s the challenge: keep an eye on our calendar and join in the readings we’ll be scheduling for next year. You can already pinpoint the first one: 24 January 2024.
