Shall we meet in September?
As the summer holidays are soon upon us, this time we decided on the play to be read at the 21st session of the Reading Theatre with Science cycle. The choice fell on a play that in recent public votes has always been very well placed, but has never won, so we’re giving it this chance now.
The action of “Rain Dance“, by American playwright Lanford Wilson, takes place in a decrepit cantina (a typical Latin snack bar) in Los Alamos, New Mexico, on the important night of 15 July 1945, where four people are waiting for the atomic bomb test.
And, coincidence or not, the reading will take place in a former refectory (of the Monastery of Santa Cruz), now known as Sala da Cidade (Olímpio Nicolau Rui Fernandes, 54, Coimbra). So in addition to Reading Theatre with Science, you can also take the opportunity to visit the exhibition on display there, free of charge.
For now, you can help us translate the text from English into Portuguese, through the Collaborative Translation Project, and then join us for the reading, on 18 September, at 6pm. All you have to do is sign up via the following email address: ler@marioneteatro.com
