The seventh session of the Reading Theater with Science took place on June 22, 2022, at Alameda das Tílias, Botanical Garden of the University of Coimbra. We read Chiori Miyagawa’s play “Comet Hunter”, translated by the Collaborative Translation Project volunteers. “Comet Hunter” is based on the life of the first recognized female astronomer in history, Caroline Herschel. Born in 1750 in Hanover, Germany, Caroline followed her famous astronomer brother William to England when she was 22. She dedicated her life to helping her brother and never married. The play is a story about a brother and sister who share celestial enchantment. Caroline is guided by a prophetess “Time”, who gives her hope for the future.
