SYNOPSIS

‘Oxymoron, between Solstices and Equinoxes’ is the first volume of the Marionet Collection, which brings together a series of theatre plays produced by our company and which has found its publishing home at Edições Húmus. The text chosen to inaugurate this series deals with the theme of bipolar disorder and was part of the show of the same name, which premiered on 20 March 2024 at the Blackbox of the Convento São Francisco in Coimbra.

biography

Mário Montenegro

Mário Montenegro was born in 1970, in Porto. He is a stage director, actor, playwright, researcher, and professor. He is a founding member and artistic director of Marionet, where he directed 53 shows and regularly intervenes as both actor and playwright. He has published the plays “Revolução dos Corpos Celestes” (MAFIA, 2006), “Encontro em Possível” (CETUP, 2006), “A Expressão das Emoções” and “LED” (Coimbra University Press, 2018), “Oxymoron, between Solstices and Equinoxes” (Húmus/Marionet, 2025), as well as two translations, “Sr. de Chimpanzé” by Jules Verne (Marionet, 2010) and “Cálculo” by Carl Djerassi (Coimbra University Press, 2011). As a researcher, he is an integrated member of CEIS20 – Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Coimbra and is interested in the intersections between Performing Arts and Science.
