In “Morpheus and Apnea”, we observe fragments of the life of a small family that faces moments of strong adversity. The mother, a victim of Alzheimer’s disease, recently passed away, and the father resists the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea and its treatment.
The daughter, afraid of losing her father too, struggles to convince him to recognize and face his disease while trying to deal with her problems herself.
The play reflects on what is within our power to change with our decisions and what we do not control and seems to be due to superior forces.

“Morpheus and Apnea” is a show inspired by the theme of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, resulting from the synergy between the Marionet theatre company and the Center for Neurosciences and Cell Biology of the University of Coimbra (CNC), and had its genesis within the scope of the Unknowness Lab, a research and creation initiative by Marionet in partnership with CNC, whose purpose is to address scientific challenges from an interdisciplinary perspective.
